This is always a deeply special day, the culmination of months of hard, rewarding rehabilitation work.
On Monday 12 December we will be releasing 65 post hatchling loggerheads, 3 sub-adult green turtles (Turbo, Kijani and Basil) and 1 juvenile Hawksbill (Juniper). Turbo, will have a satellite tag.

On Monday morning at 08h00 we will meet at Hout Bay Harbour, outside the Light House Restaurant.
Prior to this the turtles will be packed up for transport at the Aquarium (At about 06h30). If you are a photographer and would like to join for this initial stage please let me know, you are most welcome.
We will be placing the satellite tag on Turbo tomorrow, an activity you are also welcomed to join for.

2 boats will go out to sea, in a westerly direction until warm water is found (This is usually 20-30 nautical miles) and then the turtles are released into the warm water with good wishes and cheer!

We are usually back in the harbor around lunchtime, but this is obviously very variable, so I suggest keeping the afternoon as flexible as possible.

Please bring your own water and snacks, sea sickness meds, a windbreaker and hat/suncream etc.
Once the larger turtles are released there will be the opportunity to get into the water (only if you are a strong swimmer) so bring your cozzie and mask if this you.

It will be lovely to use this group for photo sharing purposes and I will use it to send any updates as they come.

Please let me know if you have any questions !

With much excitement,
Talitha (Two Oceans Aquarium)
