The Captain’s Log: May 2026 Edition – Cape Town Tuna Fishing Report

Good day all

From SUMMER to WINTER and nothing in between, that’s what’s happened in the CAPE of STORMS and these cold fronts have come with vengeance!!!!!!!

However, the TUNA are still here for how long, is anyone’s guess but with good weather forecast after the STORM we will find out.

This season has been one of the best for many years it started in OCTOBER and never stopped with lots of smaller fish 15 to 30kgs from mid-DECEMBER through till end MARCH and then the bigger 60 to 90kg fish to date.

The TUNA MASTERS TOURNAMENT is from 19th till 24th of May 2026 and this will be the last one till NOVEMBER or those willing TEOS TUNA MASTERS TURKEY 10th to13th September or ALACATI TUNA MASTERS TURKEY 17th to 20th September 2026.

There were plenty of YELLOWTAIL at the point until the STORM closed that down so let’s see what NEPTUNE has in stall for us thereafter.

The PELAGIC BIRDING trips are ongoing and have produced some very special sightings with our PELAGIC CHARTERS fully booked till next year unless our guide decides to add an additional boat.

So with JUNE fast approaching our WINTER SPECIALS kick in till end SEPTEMBER and we can tailor make an excursion for you, family or corporate charter depending on your needs and we may not be the cheapest BUT quality comes at a price and believe or extensive experience, quality of boat, tackle, safety record and knowledge of our local conditions puts us way ahead of many out there with all the gear and NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!
