December Captain’s Log – Hooked on Africa Fishing Charters

Good day all!

I said in my last update it was going to get hectic and hectic it’s been, with hooked on africa fishing charters being busier than the rest of the pack, testament to our years of success in whatever we do.

It’s also been a testing/ juggling act trying to accommodate the weather but with our team of tried and tested partners we’ve managed to cover all the bases, see our reviews on Facebook and Trip Advisor

The fishing has been testing at times and just when you think the seasons in full swing the weather gods pitch in and change all the conditions making us go back to the drawing board and call on our many years of experience to deliver the goods!

So let’s start, Turkey was good but next year we will have at least 2 teams represented, returning we hit the ground running with some superb quality catches, our very own tuna derby again blown out for most of its duration but getting in 2 very good days with over a 100 yellowfin weighed and the top 10 yellowfin in the 80’s and 90’s and the winning fish by an old client of mine 101kgs!!

Then a flurry of longfin tuna and some jumping yellowfin, great fun on the popper with many sorry stories and then into this world class event the Volvo Ocean Race arrivals all done by us, most of it at night!

It seems the wind has now set in for a few weeks with the odd weather gap so we will again lead the way and find those fish and then settle down at the Waterfront for the 8th/9th and 10th for the Volvo Inport Race and departure into the no holds barred Southern Ocean.

I want to take this opportunity to wish all the teams safe sailing on route to Melbourne Australia.

We have just learnt that our original 9 day crayfish season has now been extended to 21 days so if we can we will go catch a few during our trips! Find out more about crayfishing with Hooked on Africa here

Also and very importantly we will again be hosting an international called The Tuna Masters from 16th to 21st of April 2018 so book these dates as we are working to make this a world class event! Check out the website here

Then for the second year running we as the current trophy holders are part of the Pulsator Marlin Challenge starting on the 1st of December 2017 and ending on the 30th of March 2018 catch us if you can.

So enjoy the photo’s and updates and for all the latest action go to Facebook and Instagram both Hooked on Africa and Tuna Masters
