APRIL CAPTAIN’S LOG

Good Day All,

It’s been a somewhat subdued second half of the Tuna season with very few Yellowfin and no Long Fin Tuna, and apart from a few Word Class-sized Big guy (Southern Blue) it’s been dismal to say the least. I also don’t think there are any signs there i.e.(water color, temperature or even chlorophyll forecast) that makes me want to jump up and down! It looks like we will fish this one out till end May/ mid June and then start to target the Inshore Game Fishing Species such as Snoek and Yellowtail with some family fill in trips for our Bronze Bream/ Katonkal
Well it’s not all bad and maybe time to reflect on what HOOKED ON AFRICA has achieved this year so far;
We are the current holders of the inter club/social Marlin Comp held this year with an estimated Black Marlin of 400lbs.

We are the current leaders in our very own Triple Challenge after winning it last time.
We landed the biggest Yellowfin Tuna out of Hout Bay so far this season of 98.9kgs.
We hosted an International, well supported by my friends from Turkey including 3 teams from here. A big thank you to the Atlantic Boat Club,Angus Butchery and Tucker’s Tackle for their support hopefully next year the fish play ball!

Hooked on Africa has now gone National with a franchise in Port Elizabeth under the watchful eye of Captain Chad!

Due to our very full order book we upgraded this year with 2 new 250hp Yamaha 4 strokes as well as a few upgrades to keep us ahead of the pack!

Our King Fisher Series is still being screened on the Nat Geo Channel on DSTV.

We are also currently running in Slovakia on one of their Travel channels see link to the website.
We’ re about to be seen on River Monsters with Jeremy Wade as the host. Check it out here

So if it’s a quality operation your after were the team with a high class fleet of boats to suit all your needs and a track record and Trip Adviser references, that speaks for itself.
With winter drawing near, things will slow down for a bit but as always we will be the crew to watch!

Always on the fish first!
